Anshuka Mahapatra
Anshuka Mahapatra is a visual arts practitioner from Odisha with a multidisciplinary background in the arts. She earned a BFA in Art Education from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi (2020), followed by an MFA in Printmaking from the Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication, University of Hyderabad (2022). Based in Hyderabad, she has worked as a visiting faculty member at the University of Hyderabad and contributed to curatorial research and arts education initiatives, including curriculum development projects with the NalandaWay Foundation. In 2024, she co-founded NTNG IN THE BIN, a self-publishing initiative dedicated to comics, zines, and photobooks. Her practice critically examines the circulation of ideologies and their influence on notions of selfhood, belonging, and personal value. Through repetitive and layered text, imagery, and visual language borrowed from advertising, she explores the psychological and social mechanisms that shape identity. Performative gestures often emerge within her work as acts of confrontation, parody, or self-reflection, embracing the absurd, unstable, and contradictory. Working across painting, printmaking, installation, and video, Mahapatra's practice navigates the intersections of language, image, and lived experience.
