Koneksi Tamalanrea

Koneksi Tamalanrea emerged in 2024 as a project grounded in long-standing friendship—an affective bond that traces its roots to the university environment of Tamalanrea, Makassar, South Sulawesi, from the late 1990s to the present. It arises from a shared history of conversation, collaboration, and continuity among individuals whose encounters have gradually shaped a collective sensibility. Conceived as both a cultivation and transmission of experience, Koneksi Tamalanrea operates through interdisciplinary modalities that blur the boundaries between art, research, and everyday life. Its practice is sustained through collaborative gestures that extend across geographical, professional, and disciplinary terrains. At the heart of Koneksi Tamalanrea lies a commitment to mutualism—a mode of relation premised on reciprocity rather than transaction. Support circulates in manifold forms: the offering of time and space, the sharing of access to knowledge, the exchange of creative labor, and the contribution of tangible and intangible forms. Through these acts, Koneksi Tamalanrea envisions a living network of care and co-learning, where knowledge and experience are continuously reconstituted through friendship as a method.
